Last week, the 23-year-old’s agent claimed that Liverpool are one of four English clubs who are following the shot stopper and the Super Lig team want at least 20 million euros (£17million) for their prized asset (Turkish Football).
More recently, Cakir has himself claimed (Star) that he feels great to be linked with a move to a club like Liverpool. However, for now, he is focused on performing well for Trabzonspor (second in the league after 12 fixtures) and taking part in the Euro 2020 with the national side.
The young goalie made his senior international debut back in May and so far, he has played two games under the management of Senol Gunes.
Situation at Anfield:
Last year, Liverpool splashed the cash to sign Alisson. The Brazilian international won the FIFA Goal Keeper of the Year award after winning the Champions League with the Reds and the Copa America with the Selecao.
The former Roma man suffered an injury in the opening PL game of the current campaign and in his absence, summer signing Adrian stepped up and performed well. Now, our No.1 is back and we have a top backup option in the form of Adrian.
Not to forget, young Kelleher has done well for us this term. He saved the all important penalty kick against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. Reports suggest that the 21-year-old could leave the club on loan for more game time (Liverpool Echo).
In such a situation, Klopp may need to sign a replacement. Have your say – Should Liverpool move to sign Ugurcan Cakir?
