Liverpool can beat club to sign £25million midfielder – Journalist
Norwegian international and Genk midfielder Sander Berge has been in the lime light since facing Liverpool in the Champions League.
After the game at Anfield earlier this month, VG reported that Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing the young midfielder and even praised him. The 21-year-old was obviously happy and stated:
“It was a great moment. It is nice. You take it with a smart smile. It is nice that such a reputable trainer comes away and says something like that.”

As per recent reports going on in the media, Napoli are also looking to hire the services of Berge.
However, RAI Sport journalist, Ciro Venerato, recently told CalcioNapoli24 that if the Italian club competes with Liverpool for the signature of the midfielder, then they’ll likely lose. He said:
“Berge? If Napoli goes for a player stalked by Liverpool, they come second. It is well known that there are major clubs in the world. They like Berge, but I don’t know if he will come.”
It is a big thing to say because Napoli are not a small club by any means and have a world class manager in the form of Carlo Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League three times. It shows how much Liverpool have progressed over the years under Jurgen Klopp and are arguably the best team in the world at the moment.
It should be remembered that the European Champions lost to Napoli in their opening CL game this term and will host the Serie A side at Anfield next week.
As far as Berge is concerned, the defensive midfielder has scored 2 goals in 15 league appearances for Genk this season, who are the reigning Belgian Champions but are struggling at the moment (9th in the table)
At 21, the youngster has already played over 100 games for Genk and also featured in 20 games for Norway, who have qualified for the Euro 2020 play-offs.
At Anfield, Klopp’s first choice defensive midfielder is Fabinho, who has been in fantastic form for us. Moreover, we have got ample quality and depth in the center of the park with players like Wijnaldum, Keita, Lallana, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain and captain Henderson around.
