Oliver Mintzlaff – £52m forward could end up joining Liverpool

Liverpool Football Club have got top quality stars in their offensive setup, still the Reds must further improve the attacking depth in the upcoming transfer window.

As per reports going on in the media, German international Timo Werner is linked with a move away from Leipzig. Moreover, if the recent comments (BuliNews) made by club’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff are anything to go by then the 23-year-old striker could even end up signing for Liverpool.

Mintzlaff admitted:

“Maybe he (Werner) does not even want to go to (Bayern) Munich. Maybe he would rather join Tuchel in Paris, Klopp at Liverpool or Favre at Dortmund,”

Transfer Story – Liverpool one of most likely contenders to sign £21.5million playmaker

Back in March, Liverpool signaled their interest in luring Werner and SportBild claimed that Leipzig value him at 60 million euros (£52million). The German source also reported last month that the Bundesliga club are dreaming of getting a fee of 60 million euros from the sale of their prized asset.

As far as Liverpool’s strike-force is concerned, Klopp has normally used Roberto Firmino in the No.9 role. The Brazilian international has proved to be more than effective under the German boss but he is not an out and out center forward.

The Merseysiders should have a Plan B going into next season. Firmino has been inconsistent at times this season and as far as goal-scoring is concerned, he only found the net 12 times in the league.

Firmino’s backup, Origi, has proved to be effective when called upon, still, we need a better quality striker in the summer and Werner, who is a natural finisher with serious pace, definitely fits the bill.

In the current campaign, the German forward has so far started 34 games in all competitions and directly contributed in 30 goals (19 goals and 11 assists).

In your view, should Liverpool move in to sign Werner?
