Ex Liverpool star’s most attractive option is to sign for Man United – Report

Liverpool hired the services of German international Emre Can when Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the club back in 2014.

The former Bayern Leverkusen man excelled at Anfield and was a key member of the team under the management of Jurgen Klopp, who utilized his compatriot in the defensive and central midfield roles.

In the 2016-17 campaign, the Kaiser helped us earn Champions League qualification. He made 32 PL appearances for the Merseysiders and scored 5 goals including a spectacular over-head strike against Watford.

News – Liverpool considered signing star who was valued at £69.5million in summer window – Report

In 2017-18, he made 38 appearances in all competitions and directly contributed in 11 goals. However, last year, he opted not to extend his contract at Anfield and in the end, he left us to join Juventus on a free transfer.

After starting 20 games in the Serie A last term under Allegri, Can now finds himself in a complex situation. New boss, Maurizio Sarri, has preferred the likes of Pjanic, Matuidi and Khedira in his midfield.

Furthermore, the arrival of midfielders like Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey in the summer pushed Can further down the pecking order to an extent that he was not even selected in the club’s Champions League squad and so far, he has not even started a single game this season.

Therefore, reports in Italy (Tutto Sport) suggest that the 25-year-old wants to leave the Italian champions. The renowned news source claim that clubs from Germany and England want to secure his signature in the winter transfer window and for him, the most attractive option is moving to Man United, who are heavily linked with former Juve boss, Allegri.

The ex Bundesliga midfielder spent four years at Liverpool and it would be a shock if he opts to sign for our arch rivals. In my opinion, if he does end up moving to Old Trafford then he will surely tarnish his reputation at Anfield forever.

Was he a fan favorite? May be not. Do we miss him? Surely not, Klopp replaced the German with Fabinho and the Brazilian international has been fantastic for us since moving from Monaco last year. The Samba star is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League at the moment.
