As per reports going on in the media, Liverpool are interested in a young center back in the form of Ben White, who is currently playing for Leeds United, on loan from Brighton.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool have set their signs on the 22-year-old central defender, who is valued at more than £20million.
Football Insider have claimed that the Reds are looking at him keeping in view that Dejan Lovren’s future is up in the air. It is further mentioned that the European champions have been blown away by White’s development under the management of Bielsa.
News – Liverpool backed to sign “confident” £80million playmaker
Last season, he was loaned out to Rochdale in the January transfer window and for them, he made 15 appearances in the League One and scored a goal.
In the current campaign, so far, White has featured in all the 11 Championship games for Leeds United and helped his team keep clean 5 clean sheets. He was named the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Championship Player of the month for August.
As far as Liverpool’s central defense is concerned, we have got a world class leader in the form Virgil van Dijk, who is the club’s record signing.
Joel Matip has mainly partnered the towering Dutchman in the central defense and recently, the Cameroonian was voted as September’s PFA Player of the Month.
We do have experienced center halves like Lovren and Gomez in the squad as well and in my view, the Croatian internatinal was highly impressive in our last league game vs Leicester City. Not to forget, in the summer transfer window, Klopp signed a young center half in the form of Sepp van den Berg.
So, the Reds have got ample quality and depth in the central defense and I think, Klopp does not need another CB at the moment and he should hold on to Lovren at least till the end of this season because we have a serious chance of finally winning the Premier League title.
