Keita Has “No Thoughts” of Leaving Leipzig, Focusing Only on His Game
Pouring cold water all over the ongoing narrative, highly coveted RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita has distanced himself reports that he’s pressuring the Saxony club to allow him to join Liverpool in a big money move this summer.
“I do not want to change to a big Champions League club,” said the Guinean, speaking to RBLive. “I feel content and currently have no thoughts of a change,” continued Keita, all but shutting down the rumour mill. “The most important thing for me is that I focus my powers on the pitch.”
The German side have remained insistent that they won’t sell the 22-year old to anyone, for any price, but that hasn’t stopped whispers of the Reds smashing their transfer record yet again to draft in the wily midfielder. Having secured a spot in the Bundesliga team of the season en-route to finishing runners up to the ever present champions Bayern Munich, Keita was the undisputed star of a Leipzig team that in their first season in the German top-flight beat out Borussia Dortmund to a guaranteed spot in the Champions League.
That, of course, has lead to talk that Keita will leave the Saxony outfit this summer and when he balked at a new contract, he looked almost certain to be out the door, but this latest development is yet another unexpected twist. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has urged supporters to be patient in with the club as they work behind the scenes to secure their transfer targets, but it’s starting to look like they’ll have to switch their focus from the Guinean sooner rather than later. Then again, it’s only the start of July — things can change pretty rapidly when you throw an official offer and a whole pile of money in to the mix.
Forget him move on ,…Nextttt!!!
I have said since the rumours started it was fake news dreamt up by lazy journos and bedroom bloggers, unfortunately too many of our fans fall for it every time. How long before the rich Arab buying the club story resurfaces?
