Reds Duo Want to Push On from Cherries Draw

Liverpool may have held on to their place in the top four despite AFC Bournemouth coming from behind to nick a point at Anfield, but their position remains under threat with both Manchester United and Arsenal pushing hard to knock the Reds out of the Champions League spots.

“It was disappointing, we wanted to win this game,” said Divock Origi, speaking to the club’s official website. “We have to sit down and see what went wrong and what was good and move forward, because there are still a lot of points to play for. If you look at the game, we put a lot of energy in, a lot of work, and we created a lot of chances. But the details count at this level,” added the Belgian, keen to move on from the disappointment of Wednesday night. “We just have to stay strong and in a couple of days we have Stoke, a very important game, and football [moves] quick. So let’s try and go and win this game.”

Benik Afobe gave the visitors the lead midway through the first half, taking advantage of a poor back-pass from Georginio Wijanaldum before beating Simon Mignolet, but the hosts were level before the break with Philippe Coutinho bailing out the Anfield outfit. The Dutchman atoned for his error by setting up Origi for the go ahead goal, but Josh King capitalized on some poor defending in the penalty area to help the South Coast side to a massive point in their fight to stay clear of the relegation zone.

“[We’re] disappointed, obviously. With us going behind and doing well to turn it round and getting into the lead, we looked like we were comfortable,” mused Reds fullback Nathaniel Clyne. “For them to come and score in the last minutes is difficult to take. But we’ve got to focus on the next game now,” continued the Englishman, echoing Origi’s sentiments. “There are lots of points to play for and if we keep performing well like we did then we will get more victories and finish in the top four.”
