Liverpool Make £11mil Pulisic Offer, Make Markovic Available for Loan

Having drafted in up and coming winger Christian Pulisic in to the fold during his time with Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp knows a thing or two about the young American and has apparently made a move to bring him to Anfield.

With the transfer window set to close in just under a week, that may be a bridge too far despite the Reds staggering offer of £11mil for the 17-year old. After breaking in to the first team during the second part of the season, it’s believed that Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel has no intention of letting Pulisic leave the Westfalenstadion.

“He’s a teenager in his first year of professional football. His first two games in the starting eleven were in Leverkusen and here today in Schalke – not the easiest of tasks,” said the BVB manager last April, speaking to the press after a hard fought 2-2 draw with bitter rivals Schalke 04. “It shows our huge appreciation that we see him as a full time player on our team. He was a valuable substitute against Werder Bremen and Liverpool,” added Tuchel, singing the winger’s praises. “He has looked really good recently which has been proved today. It is completely normal that he could not have played with this pace and this intensity for over 90 minutes.”

And, on the back of that, it’s believed that the club is willing to let Lazar Markovic spend another year away from the club on loan. Injuries prevented the young Serbian from taking full advantage of a spell with Turkish giants Fenerbahce last season and having failed to force his way in to Klopp’s plans, he’ll be given the opportunity to get his career back on track. Without European football, chances to do that on Merseyside will be few and far between over the coming campaign. Although Fener are known to be interested in taking him back to the SuperLig, Serie A side AC Milan are also rumoured to be sniffing around.

Excellent player but, for the life of me, I can’t see how getting yet another attacking midfielder, when I’m about to watch our defence struggle again against Spurs, is more important than us getting a new LB and DM! pulisic would be one of about eight attacking midfielders – most playing one game in three – when we are playing a past-his-best right winger at LB because the original LB has the positional awareness of a full, industrial-sized skip and we are playing with Henderson, an attack-minded player filling-in as DM . . . and not doing it too well! A Souness or Alonso he ain’t!
In defence, Lovren is up and down, good or atrocious, Matip and Klavan probably no more than decent (at those prices) so how on Earth are we to solve our defensive woes with such players? Next we’ll bring back Lucas and Sakho to thoroughly ruin my day!!!!!
