Reds Target Mahmoud Dahoud “Will Stay” with Borussia Monchengladbach This Season
Although reports that Liverpool have come back in for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud got mouses clicking and ad revenues soaring on Wednesday morning, the agent of the Syrian born German international quickly poured cold water all over the rumours by confirming that he won’t be making a dramatic move to Anfield — or anywhere else — this summer.
“It is certain Mahmoud will stay with Gladbach for now,” Reza Fazeli told the Guardian, killing a million more news stories in the process. “There has been a lot of interest in him, not just from Liverpool,” continued his agent, before hinting that he could be on the move in the future. “But we have an agreement with Gladbach and everything has been postponed for next season. We will have to wait and see what happens in the future but it will be up to the club to accept a fee they think is acceptable.”
Monchengladbach, who are keen for the 20-year old to stay at Borussia-Park, have offered him a bumper new deal in an attempt to avoid doing this all again next summer, but Dahoud has thus far resisted their advances. The Reds, of course, have already made their interest known, but a host of other clubs are also chasing his signature with French giants Paris Saint-Germain F.C having an offer of £34.2mil rejected earlier in the window and an unnamed English club also seeing their attempts to draft him in curtailed by the German outfit.
Rumour, again, has it that Dahoud will be available next summer at an extremely discounted rate with a stipulation in his contract dropping his buy-out clause to a mere £8.5mil, but that’s another point that his agent has disputed. While it’s looking more and more unlikely that the highly rated youngster will be on the move before the transfer window closes, it’s safe to say this isn’t the last we’ll hear of him…
