Lazar Markovic Allowed to Leave Liverpool, Sporting CP Interested in Winger
On the back of the sales of defender Martin Skrtel to Fenerbahce and promising attacker Jordon Ibe to AFC Bournemouth, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp looks set to continue chopping heads at Anfield with a major squad clear-out expected before the transfer window closes at the end of August. While Spanish forward Luis Alberto has been heavily tipped to be the next on the block with Sevilla interested in taking him back to the Primera Division, the word this morning is that Lazar Markovic could actually be ahead of him in line.
Initially, it looked like the 22-year could be heading back to Turkey to hook up with Skrtel on the year he spent on loan with Fenerbahce, but unsubstantiated and possibly made up reports have Portugese outfit Sporting CP emerging as the odds on favorite to sign the tricky winger. Now, that tidbit of news might not be quite as accurate as all casino bonus info by Casinority, but Markovic is no stranger to the Primeira Liga having made the move to Anfield on the back of winning the title with Benfica a few years back.
Couple that with the fact that Sporting’s manager Jorge Jesus was in charge of the Aguias during that championship season and the rumour gains a touch more credibility. Where he might end up remains a topic open to debate, but with Liverpool not participating in any European competition this season, there’s really no question that the squad needs to be trimmed — a task that Klopp has already started on in earnest.
With that being said, the German manager did say that Markovic would have a chance to prove himself during their busy summer fixture list. Unlike Alberto and fellow outcast Mario Balotelli, the 22-year old has featured in both of the Reds pre-season friendlies thus far. That in and of itself could hint that the boss is considering whether or not to ship him out. Or, these matches could be a great opportunity to put him in the shop window and let potential suitors see just what he can do. Are you watching Sporting?
