Jordon Ibe Flies to Chicago to Seal Bournemouth Switch After Successful Medical
Following news of Liverpool accepting a bid of £15mil from AFC Bournemouth for up and coming winger Jordon Ibe, the 20-year old was pictured cleaning out his belongings from Melwood on Tuesday seemingly confirming that he was on his way out of the Anfield exit.
While there were rumours that he was looking to explore his options with the likes of West Bromwich Albion and recently relegated Newcastle United also listed as potential suitors, a number of major media sources reported yesterday that he had successfully completed a medical with the Cherries and would promptly fly out out to the United States to meet up with his new squad in Chicago as the South Coast side prepare for the new season.
It’s been a bit of a transfer merry-go-round; having already let Matt Ritchie move to the Magpies to fill the void left by Andros Townsend joining Crystal Palace, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was keen to draft in Ibe to help keep their Premier League dreams alive. Although the youngster is undoubtedly talented, after falling down the pecking order at Anfield last season on the back of a number of lackluster displays, it was about time that he was given the opportunity to play consistent first team football.
The Reds, of course, aren’t cutting their losses completely. At the time of writing nothing has been confirmed, but the Anfield outfit has apparently negotiated not only a buy-back clause in to the terms of the sale, but also a sell on fee as well. Bournemouth, for their part, are banking that the 20-year old will make the grade at Dean Court having smashed their previous transfer record — £13mil for then Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe — to bring Ibe in to the fold.
