Liverpool Start 2016/2017 Campaign with a Trip to Arsenal
Liverpool have been handed a difficult start to their first full campaign under Jurgen Klopp with a trip to the Emirates Stadium on the cards as they get the new Premier League season underway against Arsenal on the 13th of August.
The day the fixtures are announced is always a bit overblown considering each team has to play each other twice no matter what, but after a few months off, Reds fans around the world will be raring to go come opening day. The middle of both September and October brings big matches in earnest with another jaunt to London to face Chelsea and a home stand against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United following each other. You’ll have to stretch all the way to December before we see the first Merseyside Derby of the year with the reverse fixture at Anfield on the first day of April – you don’t need us to tell you how appropriate that is since Everton are always good for a laugh.
Pep Guardiola will close out the year on Merseyside with his Manchester City boys on New Year’s Eve while a trip to Old Trafford mid-month will get the old circle on the calendar treatment. Tottenham Hotspur come for a visit at the end of February and two weeks on from that we’ll be on our way to the King Power Stadium for our second meeting with defending Premier League champions Leicester City.
Memories of the spanking Stoke City handed out to us on the last day of the season a few years back will be on the mind when we visit the Britannia Stadium in April and our first trip to West Ham United’s new home comes smack in the middle of May before we close the campaign out at home with newly promoted Middlesbrough our guests.
