Jon Flanagan Puts Pen to Paper on New Long-term Liverpool Deal
Liverpool drawing Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the Europa League absolutely engulfed the media and everyone along with it after the draw was made early yesterday morning, but there was a massive bit of news that announced just prior to that with Reds defender Jon Flanagan putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract.
“It’s brilliant – it’s something I’ve always wanted to do since I was a child,” said the life long Liverpudlian on the club’s official website. “I think this is my third professional contract with Liverpool now, so I’m really happy,” he continued. “I’ve been through a lot in the last two years with the injury, and maybe a few people thought my future was in doubt, but I’ve worked hard and this is a bonus at the end of it.”
Spending almost the entirety of the last two years injured, the 23-year old has only just returned to action and looks like he’s picking up exactly where he left off with a couple of massive performances for his hometown club including an assured outing in the win over Manchester City last month where he kept former Reds winger Raheem Sterling quiet before the youngster was yanked at half-time.
“It’s driven me on even more,” said Flanagan when asked about his extended spell on the sidelines. “Any doubters who have said I was finished and stuff like that, it has made me come back stronger,” he explained. “I’m not finished just yet! For the fans to sing my name and gee me on like that is fantastic for me,” continued the 23-year old, before elaborating on how happy he is to be staying at the club he’s supported all his life. “For me, my friends and all my family, we’ve worked so hard and so we’re just all over the moon and it’s a good day for us!”
Good reporting! Any details on LENGTH of contract and WAGE?
