Progress on the Main Stand as Reds Look to Start the Season on the Road
Liverpool have officially asked the Premier League to start their campaign off on the road as the club looks to maximize the amount of time that contractors Carillion have to work on the ongoing expansion and renovation of the Main Stand.
Although the league has yet to reply, it’s expected that their request will be accepted and taken into account by the fixture setters ahead of the top-flight calendar being revealed on June 17th.

This, of course, will also mean that Anfield’s traditional pre-season friendly, a show-piece event prior to the new campaign getting underway that has seen the Reds host the likes of German outfit Borussia Dortmund as well as Spanish duo Valencia and Atletico Madrid in recent years, is off the agenda this summer — something that has been confirmed by a spokesperson for the club.
“We have requested of the Premier League that we start the first game of the Premier League season away from Anfield. Also there will be no pre-season friendlies at Anfield this summer.” It’s hoped that the expansion, which will see the Main Stand expanded by 8,500 seats, will be finished before September.
Good Progress then!
At last things seem to be moving! The club desperately needed this..!
