Liverpool Target Urged to Snub Move Abroad and Stay in England
With Burnley striker Danny Ings contract at Turf Moor edging closer and closer to the end, speculation is heating up regarding where the 22-year old will be plying his trade next season.
Liverpool were quite heavily linked with a cut rate move for the Clarets attacker during the January transfer window and though the club never publicly acknowledged their interest, it was real enough for the Turf Moor side to issue a hands off warning to the Reds and all other potential suitors. La Liga club Real Socieadad — currently managed by none other than David Moyes — was also being bandied about as a potential destination for Ings, but that isn’t doing it one bit for Burnley boss Sean Dyche who has urged him to stay in England and grow as a player.
“For his development he wants to be in the top end of the Premier League. It is the most powerful league in the world. His aspirations need to be top end of the Premier League” said Burnley boss Sean Dyche when asked about the striker’s future. “The middle of La Liga is no use. That is not doing us down, it is the reality of the market we are in. If I had seen him play at Manchester United on Wednesday, I would be knocking on the door to try and get him.”
Ings has been spotted in Spain by the tabloid press having a quiet word with Moyes in what’s shaping up to be a move when his contract expires, but the striker, who has nine goals to his name this year, could be tempted to stay in England if one of the big boys comes knocking. Whether Dyche is actually concerned about his development is up for debate, but what’s not a point of contention is the amount of money that Burnley will recieve as compensation when the 22-year old moves on. FIFA rules dictate that the Clarets will be owed compensation regardless of where he moves due to his age, but the fee would be much higher — kicking somewhere around £4mil — should be stay in ol’ Blimey rather than the paltry £300,000 they’ll pocked should he move abroad.
Ulterior motives or caring coach? You be the judge…
