More Chatter from Petr Cech’s Agent as Transfer Window Looms
While it might be nothing more than a big slice of pie in the sky, with the January transfer window only days away from opening, Chelsea ‘keeper Petr Cech’s agent has been inviting interest onto his client with the shot-stopper looking likely to leave Stamford Bridge in the foreseeable future.
Although he once again played down a departure from the Premier League pace-setters next month, Viktor Kolar has made no secret of the fact that they’ve been actively looking for a new club for the 32-year old goalkeeper. A handful of appearances in domestic cups and the Champions League have kept the veteran shot-stopper from developing a serious case of hemorrhoids, but with only two appearances in the Premier League to his name so far this season, playing regular football remains at the top of the agenda.
“It’s unlikely Petr will leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. The club and coach want to keep him to help win the title. I think Arsenal should have made an offer to him. I think Petr would be considering it” Kolar told the media before suggesting that both the Reds and Real Madrid could also be in the running for his signature. “Liverpool need to strengthen their position in goal and they know Petr will be available in the summer. We’ve been in contact with Real Madrid, but they don’t need a keeper just now.”
The Anfield outfit’s problems at the back have been very well documented, and with Simon Mignolet dropped to the bench in favour of understudy Brad Jones, there’s little question that they’re in the market for some new blood. Genoa prodigy Mattia Perin has been mentioned as a possible replacement, along with Mexico hero Guillermo Ochoa and Barcelona legend Victor Valdes, but the Reds could be tempted to plump for Cech, who is problem quality, if given the opportunity.
