Lyon President Rules out Lacazette Sale
While Liverpool seem almost certain to sign a ‘keeper when the transfer window re-opens in January, the small matter of bringing in more firepower looks to be a problem just as pressing, though it looks like a move for Lyon hit-man Alexander Lacazette is off the table.
The 23-year old has racked up an impressive 15-goals in 18-appearances for the Ligue One side this season, creating 34-chances and providing 4-assists along the way. Speculation has been mounting that the 23-year old would be leaving France this winter, but if club president Jean Michel Aulas has anything to say about it, he’ll still be at the Stade de Gerland come February.
“The difference between now and Benzema’s time is that we will soon have a big stadium to ensure revenue” he told French media outlet RMC when asked about the striker’s future at the club. “There won’t be such a need to sell players. Lacazette won’t go anywhere. We have enough money so that we can keep him.”
Despite scoring three in yesterday’s League Cup victory over Championship side AFC Bournemouth, the Reds have struggled to find the net this season. Daniel Sturridge has been out of action with a number of injuries since the end of August, Mario Balotelli is yet to register a league goal, Rickie Lambert has struggled to impose himself and Fabio Borini is certainly outside of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers plans. Whether or not Lacazette is in them remains to be seen, but the Northern Irishman could do worse than to try to lure him to Anfield in January.
