CONFIRMED: Daniel Agger Makes Brondby Switch
With news leaking out last night that Liverpool were in advanced talks to allow defender Daniel Agger to return to Danish side Brondby for a nominal fee, it was only a matter of time before the deal was completed.
Well, now it’s been confirmed by the official website with the 29-year old moving back to the club that sold him to the Reds all those years ago. That “nominal fee” they talked about appears to be in the region of £3mil — far less than what he’s actually worth, but the their willingness to allow him to go home for such a pittance is nothing short of reciprocation for his dedicated and loyal service all these years.
Despite being linked with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Arsenal during our darkest days, Agger stayed true to Liverpool repeatedly saying that this was the only club he’s ever wanted to play for. Players are always talking, but the 29-year old one was of the few who backed them up with real world actions and even though he was relegated to the bench and hampered by injuries, he stayed true to his word.
It’s understood that his departure has nothing to do with the club or his current place in it, but just a desire to finish his playing career in his home country surrounded by the people he knows and loves. All the best to Daniel and his family on their return to Denmark. Once a Red, always a Red.
quality player and person, had a tough time with injuries, but you could never doubt his commitment or loyalty. all the best danny, you will be missed. YNWA
