Remy Undergoes Medical at Liverpool Training Camp
Liverpool may be in America ahead of their pre-season clash with Italian side AS Roma at Boston’s Fenway Park, but that hasn’t stopped them from making moves in the transfer market with reports coming in that QPR striker Loic Remy underwent a medical at their base of operations yesterday ahead of a £8.5mil move from the London club.
With personal terms rumoured to already be agreed between the two sides, the Frenchman is looking nailed on to be the Reds fifth signing of the summer following the likes of Southampton duo Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can and Benfica winger Lazar Markovic to the Premier League runners-up. Should everything go to plan, he could be unveiled as a Liverpool player within the next 48-hours.
The Reds are currently training at Harvard University ahead of a busy pre-season that will see them follow up their meeting with the Italian giants with clashes against Olymipacos, Manchester City and AC Milan in the Guinness International Champions Cup with the potential for a fourth match in Miami should they top their group. Although Remy is unlikely to take part in any of these friendlies, he could very well link up with the squad immediately to get preparations for the new season under way.
Following QPR’s relegation to the Championship two seasons ago, the 27-year old spent the previous campaign on-loan at Newcastle United where he found the net 14-times in 26-appearances for the Magpies. With Luis Suarez shipped off to Barcelona for a lorry full of cash, Remy isn’t expected to be the last reinforcement to come in, though he could very well be one of the most significant.
Time, of course, will tell on that one…
