Divock Origi Spotted at Melwood Ahead of Liverpool Medical

Divock? Is that you?

OrigiMelwoodLille striker Divock Origi may have tried a bit of shuck and jive to throw punters off the scent a few days ago, but the youngster was snapped on Merseyside yesterday ahead a completing a medical at Melwood on Thursday.

At least, we think that’s him — to be fair, it’s not the most conclusive bit of evidence, but well respected journalist Tony Barrett confirmed on Twitter that the 19-year old was in fact in Liverpool yesterday and that a medical has yet to be completed. Rumours continue to swirl that the £6mil rated Belgian will be Reds boss Brendan Rodgers fourth signing of the summer and will link up with Benfica winger Lazar Markovic — who’s also on his way to Merseyside — so both of them can be put through the paces by first-team doctor Zaf Iqbal.

After displacing highly rated Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku in the much heralded Belgian side, he’s attracted a lot of interest from Europe’s top clubs, but should everything go smoothly on Thursday, that won’t be a problem anymore.

While there’s little doubt that we’ll see Origi leaning on things and holding up the famous red shirt soon enough, where he’ll be playing his football next season remains an open ended question with reports suggesting that he’ll be immediately loaned back to Lille for the forthcoming campaign. The youngster was one of the stand-out stars at the World Cup this summer, and with first-team chances sure to be limited at Anfield, another season in Ligue One probably wouldn’t be the worst thing for him.
