Juventus to Rival Liverpool and Arsenal for Sanchez Signature
It’s being widely reported today that Arsenal have had a bid of £32mil accepted by Barcelona for Liverpool target Alexis Sanchez, but this deal is looking like it’s about to get even more complicated with Italian champions Juventus apparently registering an interest in the Chilean forward.
The Reds are keen to tie the 25-year old to any deal they agree with the Catalan giants for embattled striker Luis Suarez, but with Sanchez reportedly preferring a move to London, the highly touted cash plus player deal that was doing the rounds over the last couple of weeks looks to be falling apart. Although it’s starting to look like another marquee signing is going to elude the Reds, Arsenal could very well be frustrated in their efforts as well should Italy prove a more desirable destination for the South American.
Sanchez is no stranger to Serie A having spent three productive seasons with Udinese before swapping spaghetti for paella when switching to Barcelona in 2011, but he could be tempted to return to Italian football should Juventus follow through on their rumoured interest. While the Old Lady may struggle to compete with the might of Arsenal financially, they could very well do it on a footballing level with three titles on the hop and the offer of Champions League football a tempting proposition for anyone.
With an always tricky Premier League campaign on the horizon being complicated further by Champions League football, the Liverpool are looking to make up for the significant loss of fire-power that the Suarez’s departure will bring about. Should the Reds miss out on Sanchez, Barcelona is expected to meet the Uruguayan’s substantial buy-out clause — which is rumoured to be somewhere in the region of £75mil — in a straight cash deal. As it stands, only the payment structure is yet to be agreed to with the Anfield outfit holding out hope of persuading the Chilean to make the move to Anfield.
