FC Porto Poised to Swoop for Suso
With much of the Liverpool loving world focused on the seemingly imminent arrival of Sevilla fullback Alberto Moreno within the next day or so, Portuguese media outlet O Jogo are running with a Suso to FC Porto story that’s seemingly materialized out of thin air.
That is, of course, not to say that it isn’t true or in the very least have some modicum of truth to it. The 20-year old, though highly rated by many, has found chances hard to come by on Merseyside and despite spending a productive season at La Liga outfit Almeria — where he helped them narrowly avoid relegation — he was very much in the conversation as a make-weight in the early stages of the deal that will eventually see Moreno pull on the famous red shirt.
So, if Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was willing to let him go in part exchange for a promising fullback, who’s to say that he wouldn’t part company with the youngster should a team come in with an offer that peaks his interest? As the Anfield outfit looks to raise somewhere in the region of £30mil through player sales this summer, Suso could very well be on his way to Portugal with the paper reporting the two sides in “advanced talks” over the move.
Still wet behind the ears FC Porto manager Julen Lopetegui is thought to be keen on bringing the attacker to the Estádio do Dragão, and with only one year left to run on the player’s contract, Rodgers could be keen to cash in on a player that he doesn’t really have a spot for in the squad right now. How advanced these “advanced talks” actually are is a matter to debate for the time being, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they were quite far along.
Or, you know, not even happening. That’s a possibility too…
If they do sell him, I hope a buy-back clause is put in the contract.
