Mignolet Won’t Be Missing Players

Hail to the squad
Liverpool will already be without midfielder Jordan Henderson after the 23-year old saw red for a wild lunge in the closing minutes of the Reds 3-2 win over Manchester City on Sunday and could very well be missing Daniel Sturridge, but ‘keeper Simon Mignolet doesn’t think it’ll affect the Anfield outfit bid to remain kings of the castle.

The Belgian, who made a number of crunch saves against the Citizens as Brendan Rodgers side reaffirmed their title chops, believes the quality of Liverpool’s squad — as well as their scintillating form — will see them through.

With Henderson ruled out, Joe Allen, Lucas Leiva and Victor Moses will all be competing for the England man’s spot in the squad. “I am sure we have a good enough squad to deal with these kind of situations,” Mignolet told the Liverpool ECHO. “Look at how Joe performed when he came off the bench against Manchester City. It was a difficult moment in the game at 2-2. It was tough to be a substitute coming on at that stage but he really helped the team out.”

Three points on Sunday meant that the Reds stayed at the top of the Premier League for yet another week, but the Belgian was quick to point out that last weekends victory wasn’t the only time a substitute stepped up. “He did a good job just as Lucas did away to West Ham the week before” continued the former Sunderland shot-stopper. “Victor also helped us when he came on against City – not only offensively but also in defence. The manager has options.”
