Mohamed Salah to Sign and Raheem Sterling to be Loaned?
If the Reds transfer committee is trying to keep their pursuit of FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah quiet, they’re doing a terrible job. The media has been rife with reports that the “Egyptian Messi” will be arriving at Anfield any time now, but a new detail appears to be leaking out regarding the future of Raheem Sterling.
Brendan Rodgers has been keen to add some new flavor down the right-hand side of Liverpool’s attack for quite some time now and if Salah’s performances against Chelsea in Europe are any indication of his potency, then the Merseyside outfit appear to be chasing the right man; but what of youngster Raheem Sterling who has picked up his game over the last few weeks to show that he’s the kind of promising talent we all knew he was? Looks like he’s heading for Wales.
A short term loan at Rodgers former club Swansea City looks to be in the works if the Reds are successful in snapping up Salah with Rodgers keen to keep the youngster in the first team picture – if not at Liverpool, then somewhere else. Sterling has made 17 appearances for the first team this season, including 8 successive starts since an injury to Daniel Sturridge left one half of the SAS strike force on the treatment table, and has responded to the increased game time in kind with a number of electrifying performances and 3 goals in his last 7 starts.
It’s that kind of from that makes Rodgers believe that the 19-year old has a bright future at Anfield, but this is now and Salah, a more experienced player, is thought to be the preferred option for the time being – you know, that is, if and when we sign him. Unsurprisingly, there are conflicting reports in the media that are pegging his arrival date anywhere from today, to the end of next week with a fee of £12mil already agreed, or well wide of the mark. Typical transfer window shenanigans…
Sterling is still WOWFUL infront of goal, and takes the wrong options in far to many occasion’s ;-( Still think he can do a good job for Liverpool as an impact player, because in away games where teams try too bully us,his speed my unlock defences…
Colin Pascoe during recent press conference speaking on rumours linking Raheem Sterling with a loan move to Swansea…
“We laughed at the rumours linking Raheem Sterling with a loan move away. He’s going nowhere.”
The story is pure fiction, can LFC sites please stop regurgitating. If you have to mention fictional stuff like this, at least have the decency to call it out as BS otherwise your own credibility will instead be tarnished instead of Darren Lewis’ at the Mirror!
Are you really that gullible? This deal will never happen, just another fabrication of some shitty journalists. We have a thin, small squad, keep that in mind.
Sterling is not going any where, Moses might be given back to the Blues though.
Yeah he needs more experience he will get better over time.
I totally agree lazy bastard Moses should be sent back to Chelsea, never liked him ( And he just looks like he thinks he’s too good to be playing for LFC )
To be fair, a loan would probably do Sterling well. Can’t see him getting a whole lot of time when Sturridge comes back and if we do sign Salah he’s going to drop that much farther down the pecking order.
Could be a complete fabrication – to be fair, the Pascoe interview came out after this was published – but it might not be too far from the truth. Swansea City would fit young Raheem nicely I think; Laudrup knows what he’s doing and the Rodgers connection makes this a bit more valid.
Wouldn’t complain too loudly about that to be honest; he hasn’t had a whole lot of time on the pitch, but when he’s been on it he’s failed to impress.
Hardly touting this as God’s honest truth, but if Sterling is going to be pushed down the pecking order with Sturridge returning and Salah supposedly coming in, he could deal with some first team action to keep the rust from setting in.
It’s also a World Cup year and young Raheem will be looking for a ticket to Brazil – he could very well push for a loan (a la Suso) if he knows he’s not going to get much time on the pitch.
Probably a load of bull, but not one that stinks to high heaven.
