Suarez Opens the Scoring as Liverpool Lead at the Break
It looked like it was going to be a scrappy affair from the get-go, and despite Tottenham having some evil mojo over Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers is enjoying his latest trip to London with the Reds absolutely cruising at halftime after goals from Luis Suarez and Jordan Henderson rattled their hosts and sent the travelling Kop into raptures.
Liverpool haven’t won at White Hart Lane in their last five visits, but Suarez made sure that we were in with a shout when he beat Hugo Lloris after some good work from Jordan Henderson put the ball on a plate for him.
The Uruguayan has been handed the captains armband in the absence of Steven Gerrard and the striker is relishing the role. For all that was made of Spurs summer spending spree, they’ve looked distinctly average as the visitors have held more than their own with standout performers Raheem Sterling and Lucas — back into the side in the absence of Gerrard — putting Liverpool in control.
If one goal wasn’t good enough, it would be Suarez and Henderson combining again and after missing his initial chance, the 23-year old would capatalize on Luis Suarez’s rebound to put Brendan Rodgers side two goals to the good.
There’s still a lot of time left, but this is exactly what we would have wanted heading into the second period of play.
